ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE FOREST
Enchanting documentary film about young people who are fighting for one of the last coniferous forest areas in Europe. It’s a morality play, a love story of a younger generation whose main location and object of love is the Finnish forest.
As a protest against the deforesting, a new Forest Movement was born in Finland in 2021. The documentary follows closely charismatic young environmentalists as they take part in this new dynamic movement. Through its three main characters, it raises the question of where their commitment for nature conservation stems from and what kind of choices they’ve had to make in order to focus on protecting the environment. And how will they be able to protect the increasingly rare natural forests and restore the already-destroyed areas? The film is both a beautifully intimate and socially conscious, visually strong and thought- provoking story about environmental feelings and about committing oneself to protecting the environment.
